Sampah dan Orang Sisa-sisa

Curator: Ronny Agustinus

This program presents two films, Landfill Harmonic (Brad Allgood and Graham Townsley, 2015) and Ilha das Flores (Jorge Furtado, 1989). Departing from the idea criticizing the discourse of anthropocene, to focus on discussing the discourse of Latin American cinema about waste as the late and also early struggles of social/kapital, rubbish in the sense of physical and social, and how the two are closely related. This program is juxtaposing those two films with the hope to be able to give a space of contemplation and contrast of its own, with images from two of the most extreme poles: a community that “eats” from the trash and a community that literally is eating garbage, both are close-knitted with how global capitalism works which makes the state seemed absent, either on-screen or off-screen, even though vaguely.
