Huyung dan Pameran yang Enggan Terlupakan

Tidak ada aktivitas yang terlihat dari luar Gudang Sarinah Ekosistem. Sepi dan sangat tenang. “Ah, mungkin karena jarum jam tangan masih menunjukkan angka 4,” pikir saya.

Jumat 26 Agustus 2017 merupakan hari terakhir dibukanya Pameran Kultursinema #4: “Takdir Huyung” setelah seminggu penuh dibuka untuk umum. Dengan sebuah tulisan PENAL COLONY dan ARKIPEL berukuran besar di dinding putih sebelah pintu masuk, seharusnya tidak ada orang yang tidak menyadari kalau di Hall A1 Gudang Sarinah Ekosistem sedang diadakan salah satu rangkaian program acara ARKIPEL Penal Colony – 5th Jakarta International Documentary and Experimental Film Festival. Masih dengan langkah ringan, saya menuju tempat diadakannya pameran dan bertemu dengan dua rekan volunteer ARKIPEL 2017 yang berjaga di sana, yaitu Felix dan juga Shafira.

Tidak ada yang berubah dari pameran ini dari terakhir saya kunjungi saat acara pembukaan pameran. Kala itu, tidak banyak yang bisa saya lihat, terutama tayangan filem dari Dr. Huyung di bagian dalam studio Forumsinema. Maka dari itu, tempat pertama yang saya tuju adalah bagian dalamnya.

Sebuah ruangan gelap dan dingin dihiasi oleh dua buah kain berwarna putih yang digantung dari atas menjadi pemandangan pertama yang saya lihat. Dua buah kain berwarna putih itu, yang belakangan saya ketahui merupakan kain kafan karena materialnya yang cocok, diproyeksikan oleh proyektor filem karya Dr. Huyung. Ternyata, saya tidak sendiri.

Bersama dengan saya, Fandy Hutari juga ikut berada di dalam ruangan itu. Saya pun sedikit penasaran dan mengajaknya bicara, terutama alasan ia mengunjungi pameran ini. “Kebetulan saya peneliti sejarah filem. Dan Dr. Huyung ini pernah saya bahas di buku saya yang pertama – Sandiwara dan Perang, tapi saya belum menonton karya filem-filemnya,“ jawab Fandy.

Hari terakhir pameran rupanya tetap belum membangkitkan semangat masyarakat untuk datang, meskipun kalau kita melihat kuantitasnya, jumlah pengunjung yang datang melebihi jumlah pengunjung yang datang dari tanggal 19 Agustus hingga 25 Agustus 2017. “Mungkin orang kurang familiar dengan nama Dr. Huyung atau mungkin juga nama besarnya tertutup dengan Usmar Ismail,“ ujar Fandy lagi. Masuk akal menurut saya. Besarnya nama Usmar Ismail di perfileman Indonesia membuat namanya jauh lebih familiar dibanding nama-nama lain seperti Bachtiar Siagian, Nawi Ismail, dan bahkan Dr. Huyung juga.

Tercatat di buku tamu bahwa angka pengunjung tertinggi di pameran merupakan hari pembukaan pameran, disusul dengan hari terakhir pameran. Tidak ada yang salah dari hal itu, jumlah hanyalah angka bagi saya. Yang terpenting adalah bagaimana ARKIPEL tetap konsisten untuk terus memperkenalkan sekaligus memberikan akses pengetahuan baru untuk masyarakat, terutama di bidang perfileman di Indonesia, apalagi dalam bentuk presentasi (sajian) yang berbeda, seperti pameran Kultursinema ini. ***

Huyung and The Exhibition Reluctant to Forget

There is no activity seen from the outside of Gudang Sarinah Ekosistem. It was very quiet. “Ah, maybe becuase it is just 4 pm,“ I thought.

Friday, August 26th 2017 was the last day of Kultursinema Exhibition #4: “Fate of Huyung“ after it was opened the whole week for the public. With the big sized text of PENAL COLONY and ARKIPEL on the white wall besides the door, there should be no one who does not realize that in Hall A1 of Gudang Sarinah Ekosistem was held one of the events of ARKIPEL Penal Colony – 5th Jakarta International Documentary and Experimental Film Festival. Still with my light steps, I went to the venue of exhibition and met the two fellow volunteers of ARKIPEL 2017 who were on duty there, Felix and Shafira.

Nothing has changed from this exhibition from my last visit during the opening ceremony. At that time, there was not much I could see, especially from the films of Dr. Huyung inside Forumsinema. Therefore, the first place I went to was the inside.

A dark cold room was decorated by two pieces of white fabric hang from above was the first scenery I saw. Those two white fabrics, which recently I recognized as the winding sheet because the material seemed compatible, received the projection of Dr. Huyung’s films. It turned out that I was not alone.

With me, Fandy Hutari was also in that room. I was a little curious and asked him to converse, especially about his reason of visiting this exhibition. “ Coincidentally I am a film history researcher. And I discussed Dr. Huyung in my first book – Sandiwara dan Peran (Drama and War) – but I haven’t watched his films,“ he replied.

The last day of the exhibition unfortunately didn’t raise the spirit of the people to come yet, although if we looked at the quantity, the number of visitors who came has exceeded the number of visitors who has came since August 19th – 25th 2017. “ Maybe people are not very familiar to the name of Dr. Huyung or it is possible that his big name was overshadowed by Usmar Ismail,“ said Fandy again. It made sense for me. The big name of Usmar Ismail in Indonesian cinema made his name is more known compared to other names such as Bachtiar Siagian, Nawi Ismail and even Dr. Huyung too.

Recorded in the registration book, the highest number of visitors was on the opening day, followed by the last day of exhibition. Nothing was wrong with that, quantity is just a number for me. The most important thing is how ARKIPEL stay consistent to keep introducing and opening the access of the new knowledge for the society, especially in the field of cinema in Indonesia, moreover in different presentation, like this Kultursinema exhibition.***
