Personal body is something that is primordial of an individual, more often than not demanded to also develop its discourses and revealing them in a communal space. Would the human being forever lives behind the “human being are a social entity”, which eventually trapping them in an uncertain situation of its own bodily personality?

What “The Situation Turned Around” Is https://arkipel.org/situation-turned-around/ https://arkipel.org/situation-turned-around/#respond Mon, 21 Aug 2017 08:00:34 +0000 http://arkipel.org/?p=7197 As far as I'm watching these four films, I enjoy how these four films present the objectivity in each of their plots. After the films were finished, the applause of 14 audiences closed the screening session in GoetheHaus, Jakarta.

Marginality and Thrownness https://arkipel.org/marginality-and-thrownness/ https://arkipel.org/marginality-and-thrownness/#respond Mon, 21 Aug 2017 01:00:33 +0000 http://arkipel.org/?p=7200 Through the film, the four directors were cleverly inviting the audience to be sensitive to every detail appears on the screen, to be able to grasp the meaning intended by them. Capturing the meaning although we can't get it 100%, because these films are also a cultivation of their own artistic characteristics. Without reducing the essence and message to be conveyed, these four films delivered the message through things beyond the activity of talking.

After Nation: A Memoria Passionis in Cinema https://arkipel.org/nation-memoria-passionis-cinema/ https://arkipel.org/nation-memoria-passionis-cinema/#respond Thu, 25 Aug 2016 05:50:10 +0000 http://arkipel.org/?p=5977 Indeed when I watched this film I did get the impression of memoria passionis or collective memory about the suffering. The nation building process of Philippines in the era of Spanish colonialism was related closely to the stories happened after the death of Jose Rizal as a martyr of the revolution. In terms of context, the historical background of Indonesia is actually can be told in similar way. The collective memory of the suffering experienced by Indonesian mainly related to the colonialism era and the events surrounding the year 1965. Unfortunately, we seem to not having the same anxiety and persistence to create a work revealing our qualified memoria passionis history.

She used a symbol that was ‘Flow’ of which was often identified as a domination that dragged us into.
