Exploring Medium and Pessimism of the Future on the International Competition 8 https://arkipel.org/homoludens-exploring-medium-and-pessimism-of-the-future-on-the-international-competition-8/ https://arkipel.org/homoludens-exploring-medium-and-pessimism-of-the-future-on-the-international-competition-8/#respond Thu, 16 Aug 2018 11:40:30 +0000 http://arkipel.org/?p=8987 Tremor and A Room with A Coconut View demonstrated the flexibility of medium to express the ideas from the filmmakers. The visual exploration reaches its farthest point on those two films. Apart from the medium, I think they hold certain pessimism for the future in its narration, even though it was expressed in different ways.

The Spoken and Conjugated Ones With No Need of Words https://arkipel.org/spoken-conjugated-ones-no-need-words/ https://arkipel.org/spoken-conjugated-ones-no-need-words/#respond Fri, 25 Aug 2017 03:00:27 +0000 http://arkipel.org/?p=7422 There is no introduction on who is this man, also no explanation on what is he doing, or which sea referred on Two Years at Sea as the film’s title. Is he possibly isolating himself? Once, there were also photograph piling on the table, whoever they are and their relationship to the protagonist. Everything I saw started from the beginning of film only left question mark which its answer I wait for in the discussion.

Empathy from the Films in the Curatorial of “Beyond” https://arkipel.org/empathy-from-the-films-in-the-curatorial-of-beyond/ https://arkipel.org/empathy-from-the-films-in-the-curatorial-of-beyond/#respond Mon, 22 Aug 2016 16:59:26 +0000 http://arkipel.org/?p=5925 Then, satisfaction was the reaction I got from watching World Cup. This film was nothing but slow, 108 minutes felt like a 30-minute film, thanks to its playful narration. Some shots were interrelated although they weren’t really the core portrayal of Malas Brothers’ work, and they serve themselves as satire.
