Mula-mula, kita melihat pemandangan khas sebuah kota satelit di Cina dengan jalanan-jalanannya yang besar serta kendaraan mewah dan mural yang terlihat anatopis dengan suasana kota itu. Namun, filem ini tidak hanya merekam pemandangan kota, lebih jauh lagi, ada kekuatan besar yang berada di luar jangkauan yang tampak secuil tapi mampu melengkapi kompleksitas filem ini. Deretan mural di tembok-tembok gedung ini digambar agar menyerupai arsitektur peradaban Eropa, namun menerbitkan tanya tentang efek anakronismenya yang tidak sesuai dengan lokasi dan penduduk kota.

At first, we see a typical view of a satellite city in China with its large streets, luxury vehicles and murals that look anatopistic to the city’s atmosphere. However, this film captures not only the city’s sights, furthermore, there is a great power beyond reach that looks tiny but capable of completing the complexity of this film. A row of murals on the walls of this building is drawn to resemble the architecture of European civilisation, but raising questions about the effects of its anachronisms that are inconsistent with the location and the townspeople.

Pada awalnya, kita melihat suatu pegunungan salju yang di tempat itu sekelompok turis tampak berfoto dan menikmati lingkungan. Namun, sesaat chairlift mulai menuruni pegunungan, perlahan kita diperlihatkan oleh kenyataan berbeda yang kontras dengan keadaan. Dengan dalih pemekaran kota dan pemenuhan kebutuhan papan, pemerintah pusat dan kota menyelenggarakan proyek perumahan masal bagi penduduk kelas menengah. Hal ini terjadi di mana pun, termasuk di Tehran. Filem ini dibuat dengan observasi berjarak terhadap lokasi dan subjek-subjek dalam dokumenternya yang melahirkan sebuah opini.

At first, we saw a snow mountain where a group of tourists seem to take pictures and enjoy the environment. However, for a moment the chairlift begins to slide down the mountains, slowly we are exposed by a different reality that contrasts with the circumstances. Under the pretext of city expansion and the fulfillment of the needs for housing, the central and municipal governments are organizing mass housing projects for the middle class. This happens everywhere, including in Tehran. This film is made with distant observations to the location and subjects in the documentary that gave birth to an opinion.

Kilas balik terhadap sebuah kisah tentang pemujaan atas Sapi Emas yang terekam di dalam agama samawi yang pernah menyebabkan dosa kolektif pada suatu kaum. Kisah ini diceritakan ulang dengan cara yang berbeda dari apa yang tertulis di kitab suci, namun memiliki esensi yang sama: refleksi terhadap pemujaan dalam eksistensi manusia. Filem ini merefleksikan kembali apa arti pemujaan dan materialisme, dihadirkan dengan interpretasi ulang dalam lanskap zaman kontemporer.

A flashback to a story about the worship of Golden Cow recorded in divine religion that once caused a collective sin on a community. The story is recounted in a different way from what is written in the scriptures, but has the same essence: a reflection of worship in human existence. The film reflects on what worship and materialism mean, presented with reinterpretation in the landscape of contemporary age.

Ada banyak hal yang bisa terungkap dari sebuah kata, titik kita bisa melacak fenomena kultural dan intelektual pada suatu lokasi, tempat bahasa itu berasal. Menerjemahkan sebuah kata yang memiliki arti yang luas dalam bahasa aslinya, namun asing dalam bahasa lain, menghasilkan berbagai letupan etnografis. Letupan inilah yang coba direkam dalam filem. Gestell adalah kata yang digunakan oleh seorang filsuf Jerman untuk menjelaskan kehadiran teknologi dengan eksistensi umat manusia. Awalnya, filem ini berputar pada sulitnya mencari padanan beberapa kata itu dalam bahasa Jepang, dan kemudian meluas, merefleksikan sendiri keberadaan teknologi di masa sekarang.

There are many things that can be revealed from a word, a point we can trace to the cultural and intellectual phenomena on a location where a language was originated. Translating a word that has a broad meaning in its original language, but foreign in other languages, producing various ethnographic explosions. The film tries to record these explosions. “Gestell” is a word used by a German philosopher to explain the presence of technology along with the existence of mankind. Initially, the film revolves around the difficulty of finding equivalent words in Japanese for that term, then it extends, reflecting on the existence of technology today.
