Forum Festival

For cinema, the celebration of aesthetics, as well as discourse, are manifested in the form of a film festival. Since 2013, Forum Festival of ARKIPEL – Jakarta International Documentary and Experimental Film Festival have been striving to expand the discourse of documentary and experimental filmmaking by continuously inviting filmmakers, artist, curators, critics, collective activists, and academics of experimental films and contemporary moving images every year. Forum Festival will hold its 7th symposium on 19-20 August 2019. We await more audiences from any background to join us and share their perspective on it. No less important as the objectives mentioned above is to be a transformative space for the public in general through dialogues and criticism among festival activists and their public towards the universe of cinema and the problems underlying the various products of its culture. It is important for ARKIPEL to formulate a specific view on the current map of cinema development at various levels and its spread. For ARKIPEL, the festival agenda must be oriented as a new stream of consciousness to read and interpret the maps of other celebrations of cinema, which is directly analogized with geopolitical events in the global scope.

Bagi sinema, perayaan estetika, juga wacana, dimanifestasikan dalam bentuk festival filem. Sejak 2013, Forum Festival ARKIPEL – Jakarta International Documentary and Experimental Film Festival adalah salah satu usaha untuk mengembangkan wacana filem dokumenter dan eksperimental dengan secara berkelanjutan mengundang pembuat filem, seniman, kurator, kritikus, komunitas, dan akademisi gambar bergerak setiap tahunnya. Forum Festival akan menggelar perhelatan ketujuh pada 19-20 Agustus 2019. Kami akan menyambut hadirin dari latar belakang apapun untuk turut serta berbagi sudut pandangnya tentang hal tersebut. Selain tujuan yang dimaksud di atas, Forum Festival adalah sebuah ruang kritis untuk publik yang menjembatani dialog dan kritisisme antar penggiat festival dan masyarakat umum melalui medium sinema dan permasalahan-permasalahan sosial-budaya lainnya. Penting bagi ARKIPEL untuk memformulasikan sudut pandang spesifik tentang petaan perkembangan sinema masa kini dari berbagai lapisan dan sebarannya.
