Gelora Indonesia: Menjembatani Akses Publik
Pada Kamis, 22 Agustus 2019 Pameran Kultursinema #6: Gelora Indonesia mendapat kunjungan dari Hilmar Farid, Direktur Jenderal Kebudayaan Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Republik Indonesia. Dalam kunjungannya yang singkat ini, ia melihat-lihat instalasi video yang terpasang di dalam mini bioskop, di layer besar, serta di TV-TV kecil yang tersebar di Lobby Kaca Gedung B Museum Nasional.
Gelora Indonesia sendiri adalah salah satu produk filem berita yang dihasilkan oleh Produksi Film Negara (PFN). Gelora Indonesia terbit di dua pemerintahan, baik di masa pemerintahan Sukarno maupun Soeharto. Sepanjang 1951-1976, Gelora Indonesia sedikitnya telah memproduksi lebih dari 600 filem berita.
Di tahun 2018 lalu, seluruh filem Gelora Indonesia telah dialih-mediakan dari seluloid atau kaset video analog menjadi file digital oleh Arsip Nasional Republik Indonesia. Pendigitalisasian Gelora Indonesia menjadi berita yang baik karena akan mempermudah masyarakat mengakses dan melihat kembali perjalanan sejarah bangsa ini pada rentang 1951-1976. Untuk melanjutkan usaha dari Arsip Nasional Republik Indonesia menyebarluaskan arsip sinema kepada masyarakat luas, Kultursinema menghadirkan seluruh produksi Gelora Indonesia dalam bentuk pameran arsip.
Ini merupakan pertama kalinya arsip negara Gelora Indonesia dikeluarkan dan dipamerkan untuk publik. Biasanya, untuk menonton arsip filem berita ini, kita harus datang ke ANRI dan mengaksesnya di dalam ruang menontonnya. Untuk itu, penting sekali posisi Pusat Pengembangan Perfilman Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan untuk mendukung upaya Kultursinema dalam menyebarkan arsip sinema Indonesia ke masyarakat luas. Kerja sama antara Tim Kultursinema dengan Pusbangfilm yang pertama kali ini dalam mengadakan pameran arsip filem Indonesia ini merupakan langkah yang sangat baik untuk masa depan arsip filem Indonesia. Mengingat Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan merupakan lembaga negara yang strategis untuk menggaet Perum Produksi Film Negara dan Arsip Nasional Republik Indonesia dalam menjaga, mendata, dan lebih jauhnya mereproduksi dan menginterpretasi ulang arsip filem kita.
Setelah bertanya-tanya mengenai tahun produksi Gelora Indonesia, ia mengomentari arsip-arsip filem yang dimiliki oleh Arsip Negara Republik Indonesia itu yang beberapa masih berkualitas sangat baik. Yuki Aditya selaku Direktur Festival ARKIPEL, dan Prashasti Wilujeng Putri selaku salah satu tim peneliti Kultursinema #6 : Gelora Indonesia, menjelaskan tentang proses penelitian tentang Gelora Indonesia yang berjalan sejak Januari 2019, dan juga tentang kurasi pameran yang terbagi dalam beberapa kurasi kecil. Menutup kunjungan tersebut, Yuki Aditya memberikan katalog ARKIPEL bromocorah – 7th Jakarta International Documentary and Experimental Film Festival kepada Hilmar Farid.
Gelora Indonesia: Bridging Public Access
On Thursday, August 22, 2019, Kultursinema #6: Gelora Indonesia was visited by Hilmar Farid, General Director of Culture, Ministry of Education and Culture, Republic of Indonesia. In his short visit, he saw the video installations projected in the mini theatres, on the big screen, also in the small televisions spread all over the Glass Lobby, B Building, National Museum.
Gelora Indonesia is a news film produced by the State Film Company. It was created in two regimes of governments, both in the era of Sukarno and Soeharto. From 1951 to 1976, Gelora Indonesia at least has produced about 600 news films.
In 2018, the whole Gelora Indonesia films were transferred from celluloid or analog video cassette into digital files by the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia. The digitalization process of Gelora Indonesia is good news because it will facilitate the public to access and review the course of this nation’s history throughout 1951 – 1976. To continue the attempts of disseminating the cinema archives to a broader audience, Kultursinema presents the entire production of Gelora Indonesia in the form of archive exhibition.
For the first time, the National Archive brings out and exhibits the state archive of Gelora Indonesia for a broader public. Usually, we must come to the National Archive to access these news films and watch it in a specific room provided by the institution. For that, the position of Film Development Centre of the Ministry of Culture and Education (Pusbangfilm) who supports the efforts of Kultursinema in disseminating the archives of Indonesian cinema to a broader public is crucial. This first-time cooperation between Kultursinema team and Pusbangfilm in organizing an exhibition of Indonesian cinema archive is an excellent step for the future of Indonesian film archive. Bethinking that the Ministry of Education and Culture is a strategic state institution able to connect the State Film Company and the National Archive in maintaining, registering, and furthermore producing and reinterpreting our film archives.
After asking about Gelora Indonesia‘s year of productions, he commented on the film archives owned by the National Archives Republic of Indonesia, those that are still in good condition. Yuki Aditya (Festival Director or ARKIPEL) and Prashasti Wilujeng Putri (one of the researchers in Kultursinema #6: Gelora Indonesia) explained the process of researching Gelora Indonesia, that started on January 2019, also about the exhibition’s curatorial that are divided in smaller narratives. At the end of the visit, Yuki Aditya gave Hilmar Farid the catalog book of ARKIPEL bromocorah – 7th Jakarta International Documentary and Experimental Film Festival.
