YANG TERJADI DI LOUNGE ARKIPEL
Di Balik Layar ARKIPEL homoludens: Membangun Keintiman lewat Lounge
Homo ludens memiliki arti manusia yang memainkan permainan. Hubungan manusia dengan manusia lainnya dalam suatu permainan adalah sesuatu yang kompleks dan bisa juga dibangun melalui keintiman. ARKIPEL homoludens – 6th Jakarta International Documentary and Experimental Film Festival berusaha memberikan ruang untuk panitia, volunteer, kurator, pembuat filem, hingga pengunjungnya untuk bermain bersama melalui medium Lounge. Lounge tahun ini berlokasi di Ke:Kini yang merupakan sebuah ruang kolektif untuk bertemu, bekerja, dan berkarya yang berada di jalan Cikini Raya. Lounge sendiri dimulai sekitar pukul 21.00 atau ketika rangkaian acara pada hari itu telah berakhir. Lounge sudah dibuka sejak tanggal 10 Agustus 2018 – dan akan terus berlangsung hingga sehari sebelum Malam Penutupan ARKIPEL – tetapi saya sendiri baru bisa hadir pada hari kedua. Malam hari itu langit terlihat cerah, tidak terlihat sisa-sisa hujan deras pada hari sebelumnya.
Bagian depan Lounge sudah ramai dengan muka-muka yang familiar untuk saya beberapa hari belakangan ini. Suara musik, tawa, dan pemandangan partisipan yang bernyanyi dan berdansa bersama langsung menyambut saya ketika membuka pintu Lounge. Ada pula yang sibuk berdiskusi bersama hingga duduk sendiri menikmati rehat sejenak setelah bekerja seharian. Salah satu yang dinantikan oleh partisipan di Lounge adalah makanan dan minuman gratis. Jessica Angelia atau biasa dipanggil Jea, dari divisi konsumsi, mengatakan bahwa kesulitan dari menyiapkan konsumsi hanya ketika cuaca tidak mendukung. Hal ini dikarenakan kewajibannya untuk membeli dan menyiapkan makanan kemudian memindahkannya ke Lounge. Tetapi Lounge tetap tempat yang asyik untuk berkumpul dan menjadi ruang pemersatu dengan partisipan lainnya.

Yuki Aditya selaku Direktur Festival mengatakan bahwa ide Lounge baru muncul pada tahun ketiga ARKIPEL 2015 – Grand Illusion diselenggarakan. Esensi dari Lounge adalah ruang untuk berkumpul dan berdiskusi secara setara antar partisipan. Belajar dari pelaksanaan festival di berbagai lokasi lainnya, Lounge dinilai dapat menjadi tempat berjejaring yang efektif. Lokasi Lounge ARKIPEL sempat mengalami perubahan. Pada tahun 2015 dan 2016, Lounge ARKIPEL berlokasi di Camden Bar Cikini. Perubahan ini dikarenakan pelaksana ARKIPEL menginginkan ruang yang lebih privat dan interaksi yang lebih intim.
Pendapat yang senada diungkapkan oleh Dhanurendra Pandji yang bertanggung jawab sebagai Koordinator Volunteer tahun ini. ARKIPEL homoludens memang memiliki 30 volunteer yang kerjanya terbagi di 3 lokasi yaitu di GoetheHaus, Kineforum, dan Galeri Cipta III. Sebelumnya, karena tugas-tugasnya yang tidak hanya sekedar koordinator volunteer, ia belum sempat mengenal masing-masing volunteer lebih jauh secara personal. Lounge dalam hal ini membantu proses berbaur dan bonding dengan teman-teman volunteer lainnya. Selain itu, Lounge juga meningkatkan sense of belonging dari volunteer agar tertarik untuk lebih banyak terlibat di kegiatan Forum Lenteng ke depannya.
Saya sempat berbincang pula dengan salah satu penonton ARKIPEL tahun ini yaitu Ogy Wisnu. Ogy mengatakan ARKIPEL menjadi penting sebagai salah satu patron dalam mengembangkan bahasa-bahasa sinema dan pembacaan filem. Di daerah asalnya sendiri, Bukittinggi, masih minim pengetahuan tentang sinema. ARKIPEL dilihat tidak ada kekurangan dan sudah bagus, menurut Ogy. Ia juga mendukung pengadaan Lounge karena memberikan ruang untuk mengobrol dengan lebih intim. Sayangnya obrolan saya dengan Ogy menjadi penutup pada hari itu karena waktu sudah menunjukkan dini hari dan saya harus mengejar kereta terakhir. Tentu, saya akan datang lagi ke Lounge pada hari-hari berikutnya, karena masih ada partisipan-partisipan keren lain yang belum sempat diajak berdiskusi bersama.

Behind the Screen of ARKIPEL homoludens: Building Intimacy through the Lounge
Homo ludens means the human who plays. In a game, the relation between humans can be a bit complex, but it can also be built through intimacy. ARKIPEL homoludens – 6th Jakarta International Documentary and Experimental Film Festival tries to create a space for its committee, volunteers, curators, filmmakers, to the audiences to play together in the Lounge. This year’s Lounge is located at Ke:Kini, a collective space to meet up, work or make art in Jalan Cikini Raya. The Lounge starts at 09.00 PM, or when the screening is done for the day. It has been running since August 10, 2018 – until the day before ARKIPEL’s closing night – but I only started attending in the second day. The sky was clear that night; there were no traces of heavy rain from the day before.
The sidewalk in front of the Lounge was already crowded with faces that have become familiar in the last couple of days. Music, laughs, and the sight of participants who sang and danced together was seen as I opened the door. Few of them were seen discussing, a few others were sitting alone having a rest after the day’s work. One of the things anticipated by the participants was free food and drinks. Jessica Angelia, or Jea for short, from the consumption division, told me that it is hard to get the food ready in bad weather. It is hard to fulfill her responsibility to buy the food, get it ready, and bring it to the Lounge. But, it is still a nice place to gather, a space that unites each participant.

Yuki Aditya as the Festival Director said that the idea of Lounge came up on ARKIPEL 2015 – Grand Illusion. The purpose of Lounge is as a room for participants to gather and discuss in an egalitarian environment. Learning from other film festivals, Lounge is considered as an effective networking place. The location of ARKIPEL’s Lounge had a bit of change though. On 2015 and 2016, it was held at Camden Bar, Cikini. The change was done because ARKIPEL’s organizers want a more private and intimate interaction.
A similar opinion was brought up by Dhanurendra Pandji, as this year’s volunteer coordinator. ARKIPEL homoludens has 30 volunteers working in three different locations: GoetheHaus, Kineforum, and Galeri Cipta III. Before Lounge, he was not able to know every volunteer personally because of his positions aside of being a volunteer coordinator. Lounge eases the process of mingling and bonding with other volunteers. It also increases their sense of belonging, so they can be more interested further to the activities of Forum Lenteng.
I also had the chance to talk with one of ARKIPEL’s audiences, Ogy Wisnu. Ogy thought that ARKIPEL holds an important role as one of the patrons in developing the language of cinema and the reading of films. In where he came from, Bukittinggi, there has not been much exchange on the knowledge of cinema. He also supported the management of the lounge because it provides an intimate chatting space. Unfortunately, my chat with Ogy had to be the end of my visit, because it was getting late and I had to catch the last train. Of course, I will visit the Lounge on the upcoming days of the festival, since I haven’t got the chance to talk to other cool participants.
