Filem sudah dimulai ketika saya masuk ke dalam ruang pemutaran program, berjudul Remodeled Beyond Recognition (Mengubah Bentuk Melampaui Ingatan) yang berisi tujuh filem berdurasi pendek, yaitu BBRRAATTSS (Ian Cheng), Versions (Oliver Laric), Case Study House (Josh Romphf), Former Models (Benjamin Pearson), Just Like Us (Jesse McLean), To Raze (Juliane Henrich), dam Everything is Cool (Matthew Williamson).
Remodeling The Audience’s Perspective through Visual Experimentation.
JAKARTA, ARKIPEL, Forum Lenteng — One of the most important program in the series ARKIPEL Electoral Risk – Jakarta International Documentary & Experimental Film Festival 2014 is a presentation program in collaboration with film festivals across the country. In this 2014 ARKIPEL, again ARKIPEL collaborates with Images Festival, which is the biggest festival of the moving image in North America. The collaboration is expected to be one important step in establishing a network between the film festival which automatically also open access, both in terms of distribution and wider knowledge, in the realm of documentary and experimental film.
Film had already started when I went into the screening room Remodeled titled Beyond Recognition Program which contains seven short videos, which BBRRAATTSS (Ian Cheng), Versions (Oliver Laric), Case Study House (Josh Romphf), Former Models (Benjamin Pearson), Just Like Us (Jesse McLean), To Raze (Juliane Henrich), and Everything is Cool (Matthew Williamson).
This first collaboration program with the festival IMAGES was screened in Kineforum on September 12, 2014 in the third screening slot, at 04:30 pm. Images Festival Director; Scott Miller Berry, attended the screening of the program along with four other audiences.
Film and video-based media in the form of visual essay, animation, virtual tours, and old recordings, digital manipulation, which were screened, were quite evoking a sense of interest from me. ‘Experimentative’ pictures that open a whole new language possibilities in processing digital product in the contemporary era, successfully caused a laughter from the audience for the 70 minutes of video playback. Q&A session with Scott Miller Berry opened when playback was finished. But unfortunately, time had run out for the third slot because they have to immediately go to the next program. The Q&A session was allowed through personal discussion outside the screening room in a more relaxed atmosphere.
This presentation program that focused on the experimental context is important to follow as a choice among other programs in the ARKIPEL Festival. Such richness of the content like these can be seen as an opportunity in gaining access to films with adequate quality. There is other program of the Images Festival that can be followed, entitled Resistance, Persistance, and Time, which will be screened on September 15, 2014, 05:30 pm at the same place.
