Sacrifice a Flower

Sacrifice a Flower merupakan dokumenter melalui pendekatan eksperimental. Hampir seluruh bidikan pada karya ini nyaris menciptakan representasi yang didistorsi dari  impresi sang pembuat. Beberapa usaha mendistorsi realitas pada Sacrifice a Flower berupa bidikan-bidikan yang cukup membiaskan, dan beberapa pembiasan dilakukan dengan melakukan kolase gambar. Karya ini terdiri dari delapan bagian dengan masing-masing subjudul yang mentematiskan situasi atau tempat tertentu, yang memiliki hubungan yang sangat personal dengan sang pembuat. Seperti pada subjudul “Black is Island” dan “Empty”, merupakan penggambaran dari tempat kelahiran kakek sang pembuat. Sacrifice a Flower merupakan karya dokumenter eksperimental yang sangat mementingkan tentang bentuk dari visi personal ketimbang aktualitas.

Sacrifice the Flower is a documentary film with experimental approach. Almost all the shots in this work almost create distorted representation of the creator’s impression. Several attempts to distort reality in Sacrifice a Flower are done with refracted shots, and some with editing the collage. The work is divided into eight segments. Each segment has different theme, either about certain situation or specific location, which has a very personal relationship with the filmmaker. For example two segments which titled “Black is Island” and “Empty”, are depictions of the filmmaker’s grandfather’s birthplace. Sacrifice a Flower is a work of experimental documentary which put great importance on the form and personal vision rather than its actuality.
