Penayangan International Selection 1 & 2: Negation
Penayangan Program Kompetisi International 1 & 2, dengan tajuk kurasi Negasi, di ARKIPEL Grand Illusion – 3rd Jakarta Internasional Film Festival, 2015, berlangsung pada Hari Senin, 24 Agustus, di Goethe-Institut Indonesien, Jakarta. Pemutaran ini terbagi dua sesi, pukul 13.00 dan pukul 15.00. Di sesi pertama, ada dua filem yang ditayangkan, yakni Ashes karya Micael Espinha dari Portugal, dan War of Lies karya Matthias Bittner dari Jerman. Di sesi kedua, filem-filem yang dinikmati penonton adalah Beep karya Kyungman Kim dari Korea Selatan, What Day is Today karya Collectivo Fotograma 24 dari Portugal, dan For The Lost karya Pierre-Yves Vanderweerd dari Belgia.
Saat penayangan sesi pertama, terhitung ada empat orang yang datang dan menyaksikan filem. Sementara, saat sesi kedua, juga hanya ada empat orang yang masuk. Namun, saat penayangan filem ketiga, For The Lost, terjadi kesalahan teknis: suara dari filem tersebut gagal untuk tampil sehingga tim ARKIPEL meminta maaf untuk ketikdaknyamanan yang disebabkan dan penonton diminta untuk keluar studio sementara waktu, sembari tim teknis melakukan perbaikan. Filem pun, dengan demikian, dapat dinikmati kembali sebagaimana mestinya. Penundaan tersebut berlangsung selama 3 menit, dan penonton kembali dipersilakan masuk.
Memang, penonton di Program Kompetisi International hari itu di Goethe-Institut Indonesien tidaklah banyak, namun dari jumlah yang tidak banyak itu, kami melihat adanya beberapa orang yang memang memiliki hasrat tinggi dalam mencari tontonan yang berbeda. Kuantitas penonton yang tidak banyak ini tergantikan oleh kualitas penonton yang tinggi dan selektif dalam mencari pilihan tontonan. ARKIPEL sangat mengapresiasi penonton seperti ini, karena ARKIPEL sendiri lahir dari penonton-penonton filem yang selalu mencari bentuk lain dari apa yang mampu ditawarkan sinema.

International Competition Program 1 & 2, Negation, in the ARKIPEL Grand Illusion – 3rd Jakarta International Documentary & Experimental Film Festival 2015, is played on Monday, 24 August, in Goethe-Institut Indonesien, Jakarta. These screenings are divided into two sessions, at 1 pm and 3 pm. For the first session, two films, Ashes by Micael Espinha (Portugal) and War of Lies by Matthies Bittner from Germany, are screened. At the second session there are Beep by Kyungman Kim (Republic of Korea), What Day is Today? by Collectivo Fotograma 24 (Portugal), and For The Lost by Pierre-Yves Vanderweerd (Belgium) are presented for the audiences.
Only four people attend and watch the first session and the second one. Unfortunately, there was some trouble when For the Lost was screened: the back-sound couldn’t be read so ARKIPEL team should apologize to the audiences during the show and ask them to go outside the room. While the audiences waiting in the outside, technical team are improving the sound. Finally the sound became good and the audiences could watch the film properly. The screening is delayed for 3 minutes.
The amount of the audiences in this program are less than we expected. But from that amount, we see that some audiences have high expectation, longing for different films. ARKIPEL is really appreciate this kind of audiences who seek for the quality of the films. We believe that the public will seek what cinema can offers nowadays.
