Movement Arising from Different Relationships (Masahiro Tsutani, Japan, 2015, 13 minutes)

Fokus kepada fluktuasi bunyi, pergerakan partikel, dan bentuk. Dalam presentasinya, selain ekstraksi dari objek-objek tak hidup yang menghasilkan citraan partikel yang bergerak, filem ini juga mem-‘pekerjakan’ organisme hidup—struktur sel dari otak tikus—sebagai bagian dari estetikanya. Movement Arising from Different Relationship adalah seri kedua dari Between Regularity and Irregularity.

This film focuses on fluctuations of sound, particle movements, and form. In its presentation, in addition to the extraction of inanimate objects which result the images of moving particles, the film also employs a living organism, the cell structure of the rat’s brain, as part of its aesthetic. Movement Arising from Different Relationship is the second series of Between Regularity and Irregularity.

Origin of the Dream (Takashi Makino, Japan, 2015, 20 minutes)

Abstrak. Kosmik. Depth-ness. Multiple exposure. Flicker. Tenggelam. Origin of the Dreams adalah genealogi mimpi yang terealisasi atas proses timbal-balik antara musik, image dan bentuk yang sinkron. Musik dalam karya Makino kali ini berperan penting dalam membangun narasi yang imajiner.

Abstract. Cosmic. Depth-ness. Multiple exposure. Flicker. Submersed. Origin of the Dreams is a genealogy of dream that is realized over the reciprocal process of music, image and synchronous form. The music in this Makino’s work plays an important role in building an imaginary narrative.

Existence (Adythia Utama, Indonesia, 2017, 8 minutes)

Montase dari banyak footages yang Adythia rekam secara acak, kembali ia komposisikan menjadi sebuah video berdurasi kurang-lebih 7 menit. Mungkin ‘komposisi’ malah bukan kata yang tepat untuk mengkategorikan metode penyuntingannya—‘improvisasi’ dirasa lebih kena. Keteraturan dan ketidakteraturan hadir dalam Existence bersamaan dengan sinkronisasi tempo antara images dan musik.

It is a montage of many footages that Adythia recorded randomly, which he re-composed into a 7 minutes video. Perhaps the word ‘compositions’ are not even the right one to categorize his editing methods, ‘improvisation’ seems to be more appropriate. Regularity and irregularity are present in Existence along with tempo synchronization between images and music.

The Moderators (Ciaran Cassidy, India/US, 2017, 21 minutes)

Sekelompok pegawai baru di sebuah biro konsultasi dan jasa pelayanan content moderation di India sedang sibuk mempersiapkan diri mereka untuk menjadi tulang punggung Internet. Filem ini merekam bagaimana interaksi sehari-hari manusia yang bekerja sebagai content moderator dalam meregulasi dan mengontrol sirkulasi image di media sosial—memastikan agar media sosial tidak dipenuhi oleh konten bokep bocah, kekerasan, penipuan, dan bots-bots tidak bertanggung jawab.

A group of new employees at a consulting and content moderation service in India are busy preparing themselves to become the backbone of the Internet. It records how everyday workers’ interactions who work as content moderators regulate and control image circulation in social media, ensuring that social media is not filled with contents of child pornography, violence, fraud, and irresponsible bots.
