Mengambil kisah sejarah duo musik Milli Vanilli tahun 1980-an, Former Models membangun sebuah esai berlapis mengenai pemalsuan citra dalam budaya pop yang sama-sama menggunakan elemen dari khayalan dan kenyataan dari kehidupan Robert Pilatus dan Fab Morven, sang anggota band.  Sebuah refleksi pasca-kematian, mengenai tersohornya mereka (dan kejatuhan drastis mereka), diceritakan melalui suara Pilatus yang tak berjelma, yang meninggal karena over dosis setelah terbongkarnya fakta bahwa duo tersebut tidak menyanyikan lagu mereka sendiri. Terdiri dari video-video musik lawas, footage dari televisi dan sumber-sumber lain yang terpercaya, Video Pearson menggali sejarah tersebut untuk direfleksikan pada fantasi, ketenaran dan jasmani.

Using the storied history of 1980s music duo Milli Vanilli, Former Models constructs a layered essay about the fabrication of a pop cultural image using both real and imagined elements from the lives of the band’s members,Robert Pilatus and Fab Morvan. A posthumous reflection on their rise to (and drastic fall from) fame is told through the disembodied voice of Pilatus, who died of a drug overdose after the duo was exposed for not having sung on their own record. Constructed from vintage music videos, television footage and various other appropriated sources, Pearson’s video mines this history to reflect on fantasy, fame and the material body.
